I have to admit, I’m finding myself watching more and more World Cup Soccer each day. What the hell is wrong with me? I don’t like Soccer. It’s like watching paint dry. It has the excitement of a car door closing. Maybe it’s the cheerleaders! Oy vey, if they only had cheerleaders like the gals above. Maybe if they had a match with the gals from above against let’s say…maybe the Swiss girls, some of the hots for Italy? I’ll be happy to watch them.

As a much as I’d love to see the lovely girls in action, it’s the real soccer action I’ve found myself entrenched in. I’m even watching Slovakia, Ivory Coast and Ghana play! What the hell is happening to me? I could understand if it was Brazil, Italy, Germany, and the United States in action. Don’t get me wrong, I’m watching all those games. But, I’m watching the countries I know NOTHING about any of the teams or players.

Maybe it’s the subliminal bee buzzing noise that draws me to the big screen and I can’t walk away from the action. Action? What action? That’s the other crazy thing about World Cup Soccer action….there isn’t any. Yes, the crowds chanting and screaming dressed in their countries colors and having the time of their lives is all fine and dandy. It’s like St. Patty’s Day parade on Greenville Avenue for the whole game in the stands. So what if there is only one goal in the whole game, were drinking and singing and having the times of our lives.

What can I say? World Cup Soccer has got me by the Hootchsky and it won’t let me go. I guess I’m kind of digging it. I think, I don’t know. I’m going crazy! I find myself not allowing myself to miss a game. After the United States went down 2-0 early yesterday to Slovokia, I figured my World Cup Soccer watching was coming to an abrupt halt. I turned it off and ran to the store for a couple of errands. I’d NEVER leave my house to run an errand during an NFL, College Football, or Mavericks game. NEVER! EVER! However, this game was over  and my World Cup watching was done.

No less than an hour later as I returned home that I see the United States had tied Slovakia and had momentum on their side. Hell, I cranked up the sound and was cheering U.S.A. so loud my Yellow Lab Allie went inside. Moments later the United States scored what appeared to be the winning goal with just minutes remaining in the match. Yee freaking ha!! It’s a GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!! Uh, no….no goal based on the ref from Mali who had no reasoning other than he is a distant relative of Tim Donaghy. Enough said, a tie is a tie is a tie. Our boys from the USA are still in the hunt.

As for me, I’m stuck watching World Cup Soccer for at least another week. And for those of you who might be thinking that I might be acquiring a taste for Soccer….think again. It’s World Cup Soccer. It’s the only time I’ll ever show it some love. Remember my famous words I live by, “If you ignore Soccer long enough, it’ll go away.” Unless of course we have the beautiful girls playing soccer each week. Then, I’ll watch a little more often.
